NEWARK, DE - Sophomore Butch Patrick captured both the 60 meter dash and the long jump to lead the University of Delaware men's indoor track and field team at the Delaware Invitational held Friday night at Delaware Field House.

Delaware hosted Catholic, Delaware State, Villanova, Lincoln, Navy, and Howard in the non-scoring meet.

Patrick won the long jump with a leap of 23-5 1/2, good enough to qualify him for the IC4A êchampionships in March. He also won the 60 meter dash in a time of 6.95 seconds.

Other top performances by Blue Hen athletes saw Jamin Elliott win the triple jump (47-3 3/4) and place second in the long jump (22-8 1/2); Steve Sinko won the 800 meters in 1:07.13; Mike Chadwick finish second in the 35 lb. weight throw (51-4 1/2), Tom Marando finished second in the shot put (49-8 1/2) behind winner Ean Rose of Delaware State (52-8 3/4); John Marino was second in the 60 meter hurdles (8.78); Andrew Johnson was second in the 400 meters (50.94) and third in the 200 meters (23.24).

Delaware State won the 4 x 400 meter relay (3:25.07) and had Kevin Dick place second in the 200 meters (22.62).
