Bucknell Deca Meet
January 23, 1999


LEWISBURG, PA -- The University of Delaware men won six events and Caron Marra won the 3,000 meters for the second straight meet for the Delaware women as the Blue Hen men's and women's indoor track and field teams each placed second at the Bucknell University Deca Meet Saturday afternoon.

Bucknell won the men's meet with 231 points followed by Delaware (168) and Towson (77) in the eight-team field. The Bucknell women also took first place with 324 points while Delaware was second (92) and St. Francis third (77) in the eight-team field.

Taking home first place finishes for the Blue Hens were the 4x400 meter relay team (3:23.97), Jamin Elliott in the triple jump (46-8 1/2), Eric Sands in the shot put (50-0 3/4), Steve Sinko in the 800 meters (1:55.19), Bokah Worjolah in the 500 meters (1:06.84), and Gary Fairchild in the long jump (22-9). Placing second for the Hens were Elliott in the long jump, Tom Marando in the shot put, Mark Coyle in the mile, and Mike Chadwick in the 35 lb. weight throw.

Marra won the 3,000 meters for the second straight meet, finishing in a time of 10:28.87, and the 4 x 800 meter relay team took top honors for the Blue Hens' lone top finishes. Also placing second for the Hens were Brandy Connell in the 20 lb. weight throw and Kristen Robbins in the 800 meters.
