University of Delaware Announces Additional Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country Recruits for 2007-08 Season

NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware men’s cross country and track and field head coach Jim Fischer has announced the addition of 15 more student-athletes who will attend the University this fall and compete for the Blue Hens.

The out-of-state list includes sprinter Jimmy Bagott of Hingham, MA (Hingham High School), middle distance runner Alex Malikian of Somers, NY (North Salem HS), and distance/cross country runner Nate Twer of Jenkintown, PA (Jenkintown HS).

The in-state list includes distance/cross country runner Tyler Blaisdell and weight thrower Matt Lattanzi from Archmere Academy; pole vaulter Joe Snodgrass from Brandywine High School; sprinter Chad Mills from Caravel Academy; sprinter Justin Molligan from Wilmington Charter School; middle distance/cross country runner Mike Tait from Concord High School; middle distance runner Kyle Caldwell from Dover High School; distance/cross country runners Kyle Bain, Drew Hoffman, and Sean Rodammer from St. Mark’s High School; jumper Jamie Igo from Salesianum School; and distance/cross country runner Will Kelly from Tatnall School.

Bagott placed second in the 400 meters and second in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the Eastern Massachusetts state outdoor championships this past May; Malikian was named to the The Journal News Westchester/Putnam honorable mention All-Area team this past spring and finished in the top 10 in the 800 meters at the New York State meet; and Twer placed fifth in the 1,600 meters at the 2007 Pennsylvania state meet with a time of 4:21.55 after winning the district title in the event.

Blaisdell placed fourth in the 4 x 800 meter relay and 11th in the 800 meters at the 2007 Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association state outdoor meet; Lattanzi placed fourth in the shot put at the 2007 state outdoor meet; Snodgrass placed fourth in the pole vault at the 2007 state indoor meet and fourth in the 2007 state outdoor meet while also placing 45th at the state cross country meet; Mills was a standout for state outdoor Division II runner-up Caravel; Molligan placed second in the 400 meters and 13th in the 200 meters at the 2007 state indoor meet and was sixth in the 400 meters and seventh in the 200 meters at the 2007 state outdoor meet; and Tait was a member of the state indoor and outdoor champion 4 x 800 meter relay team and led Concord to the team state title in both meets, placed third in the 800 meters at the 2007 outdoor meet, and was 30th at the state cross country championships.

Caldwell was fourth in the 4 x 800 meter relay and 14th in the 800 meters at the 2007 state indoor meet, won the state title in the 4 x 400 meter relay, was second in the 4 x 800 meter relay, and fifth in the 800 meters at the 2007 state outdoor meet, and placed 46th at the state cross country championships; Rodammer placed sixth in the state indoor 4 x 800 meter relay, third in the 4 x 800 meter relay and ninth in the 800 meters at the 2007 state outdoor meet, and was 31st at the state cross country championships; Bain and Hoffman were standout distance runners for a St. Mark’s team that was the state outdoor meet runner-up in 2007; Igo led Salesianum to the 2007 state outdoor team title by winning the state championship in the high jump and placing fourth in the triple jump; and Kelly finished eighth in the 4 x 800 meter relay and 12th in the 3,200 meters at the 2007 state indoor meet, placed 10th in the 4 x 400 meter relay and 11th in the 1,600 meters at the 2007 state outdoor meet, and led Tatnall to the state cross country team title by placing 12th at the 2006 state meet.

This group will join shot put and discus thrower Nick Alexander from Hackettstown, NJ (West Morris Central High School); distance runner Pierce Conlon of Wilmington, DE (Concord HS); weight thrower Theo Lusardi of Hopatcong, NJ (Pope John XXII Regional HS); sprinter and jumper Ross Shober of Reinholds, PA (Garden Spot HS); weight thrower John Viotto of Dayton, NJ (South Brunswick HS); and middle distance runner Corey Wall of Clarks Summit, PA (Abington Heights HS) who were announced last month.
