Men Place Third at Lehigh's John Covert

BETHLEHEM,
PA -- The University of Delaware men's
indoor track and field team got victories
from Charlie Williams in the 400 meters
and freshman Will Jurkowski (right) in the
800 meters to place third in the team
standings and the Blue Hen women got wins
from Brittany Wright in the 60 meters and
200 meters and from freshman Colleen
O'Brien in the 3,000 meters to place
fourth overall at the John Covert Classic
Saturday at Lehigh University.
Both the
Delaware men's and women's teams also
captured the 4 x 400 meter relay event at
the meet with the UD men also winning the
4 x 800 meter relay.
Lehigh won
the men's title with 201.5 points followed
by Sacred Heart (143.5), Delaware (138.5),
Saint Joseph's (57), and Mt. St. Mary's
(49) in the 10-team field. On the women's
side, Lehigh totalled 220.5 points to win
the team title, easily outdistancing
Towson (134.5), Sacred Heart (119),
Delaware (94), and Richard Stockton (43)
in the 10-team field.
Wright was
the Blue Hens' lone double winner as she
won the 60 meters (7.84) and 200 meters
(26.37) while O'Brien competed in the
3,000 meters for the first time this
season and won with a time of 10:10.07.
Also for
the Hens, Asha Quant was second in the
long jump (17-0), Kristen Frustillo was
second in the 60 meters (8.12) and 200
meters (26.40), Rayna Horsey was fourth in
both the 60 meters (8.21) and 200 meters
(26.88), and Rachel Young was sixth in the
shot put (37-6 1/2) and ninth in the
weight throw (38-6 1/4).
For the
Delaware men, Jurkowski won his fourth
race of the season as he captured the 800
meters in a time of 1:58.94
Also for
the UD men, Williams won the 400 meters in
51.60 and was second in the 200 meters
(23.17) , Rashaad Woodard was second in
the 60 meters (6.95) and sixth in the 200
meters (23.56), Chris Dixon was second in
the 400 meters (51.72), Brad Dodson was
second in the mile (4:20.90), and Mike
Yost was second in the weight throw (53-3
3/4) and fifth in the shot put
(45-3).
