University of Delaware Thomson Indoor Track and Field Invitational Set for Saturday at Delaware Field House

NEWARK, DE -- Nearly 50 men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams will be on hand Saturday at the Delaware Field House as the University of Delaware hosts the annual Thomson Invitational.

The meet, which honors members of the Thomson family who have been supporters and competitors at the University of Delaware, will begin with the weight throw, pole vault, long jump, and 60 meter hurdles events at 10 a.m. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children. Student with proper identification are admitted free.

Teams competing will be American, The Citadel, Delaware, Delaware State, LaSalle, Maryland, Monmouth, Rider, St. Peter’s, Temple, Towson, and Villanova in the Division I race and Adelphi, Cabrini, Community College of New York, Franklin & Marshall, Lincoln, Moravian, College of New Jersey, Rutgers-Newark, Salisbury, Stockton, and Widener in the Division II-III race.

The Delaware men, coming off a seventh place finish at the John Covert Invitational at Lehigh last Saturday, are led by weight throwers John Viotto, Chase Renoll, Greg Stirparo, and Nick Alexander, long jumper Brandon Swartout, and sprinter Nick Morrisey.

The Blue Hen women, coming off a second place finish at Lehigh, are led by sprinters Asha Quant, Kayla Hennessy, and Kristi Cox, pole vaulter Kelli McDonald, long distance runner Christina Antonopoulos, and weight thrower Amanda Marshall.
