Marando Takes
5th Place in Shot Put for UD Men
PRINCETON, NJ -- Annemarie
Quinn won the high jump and Carol Oliveri matched
the school pole vault record with a third place finish to
highlight University of Delaware performances at the
Princeton Indoor Track and Field Invitational Sunday at
Jadwin Gymnasium.
Quinn (Strath-Haven/Wallingford, PA) won
her third individual high jump title of the season as she
leaped to a height of 5-8 1/2 to win by two inches over
runner-up Shawneequa Collier of Princeton.
Oliveri (St. Rose/Brick, NJ), who already
holds the Delaware outdoor pole vault record, matched the
school indoor record with a leap of 10-0 to place third
overall. She tied the record of 10-0 set by Ashley Forlini
last season.
Also for the Blue Hen women, Melissa
Calvanico (Tottenville/Staten Island, NY) was sixth in
the shot put with a toss of 38-2 1/4 and the distance medley
relay team placed second overall with a time of
12:10.41.
The Blue Hen men had just one competitor
at the meet with senior Tom Marando (St. Mark's HS)
placing fifth overall in the shot put with a throw of
50-4.
Both Delaware teams will continue action
next Saturday when they host the Delaware Invitational at
Delaware Field House.
