University of Delaware Cross Country Teams Ranked in First USTFCCCA Regional Poll

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- Both the University of Delaware men’s and women’s cross country teams were listed in the first weekly United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Regional polls announced this week.

The Delaware women were picked No. 10 while the Blue Hen men were selected No. 12 in a vote of member coaches.

The Blue Hen men placed first at the Towson Invitational in the team’s season opener this past Saturday while the Delaware women placed second overall alt Towson. Delaware senior P.J. Meany was second in the men’s race while freshman Cassie White was fourth overall for the UD women.

In the women’s poll, Princeton was picked No. 1 followed by Georgetown, LaSalle, West Virginia, Penn State, Bucknell, Villanova, Penn, Maryland, Delaware, Duquesne, St. Francis (PA), Lehigh, Pittsburgh, and Rutgers.

In the men’s poll, Georgetown took the top spot followed by Princeton, American, Villanova, Penn State, Penn, Duquesne, Navy, LaSalle, Bucknell, Maryland, Delaware, Lehigh, Pittsburgh, and Saint Joseph’s.

Both Delaware teams will host the Delaware Invitational this Saturday, Sept. 15 at White Clay Creek State Park. The men’s race will begin at 10:30 a.m. while the women’s race will follow at 11:10 a.m.
