RICHMOND, VA --A total of 71 University of Delaware student-athletes from fall sports teams have been honored for their work in the classroom by being named to the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll for the fall semester.

To be eligible, student-athletes must be a member of a UD falls sports team, have appeared in at least one game or meeting during the 2007 season, and carry a 3.2 or better grade index during the fall or for their cumulative career at Delaware. Winter and spring sport student-athletes will be honored in May or June.

The list included four Blue Hen student athletes who registered a perfect 4.0 grade point index for the fall semester - womens’ soccer sophomore Megan Delaney (Damascus HS/Gaithersburg, MD) and women’s cross country freshmen Karen Mandrachia (Newark HS/Newark, DE), Christina Sloat (Shenendehowa HS/Ballston Lake, NY), and Rachel Schaefer (Salem HS/North Salem, NH).

The Delaware women’s cross country team had a UD-high 18 players named to the team followed by football with 11, field hockey with 10, women’s soccer and men’s cross country with nine each, volleyball with eight, and men’s soccer with six honorees. Volleyball had 72.7 percent of its 11 team members recognized while women’s cross country had 69.2 percent of its 26 team members honored.
