George Washington Invitational

CENTREVILLE, VA -- The University of Delaware men's cross country team finished 12th out of 19 teams in the men's 8,000 meter run held Friday at the George Washington University Invitational.

Mike Sadowsky led the Blue Hen harriers with a time of 27:22.73, to finish 58th overall. Jim Catella was the second Delaware finisher with a time of 27:40.27, good for 68th place.

The Blue Hens finished in 12th place with 299 points. The University of Miami (Fla.) won the team competition with 36 points, edging out the University of Virginia, which finished with 46 points.

Other Delaware finishers included Carl Kinney, who finished 71st in 27:44.42, Brian Cook, who finished 73rd in 27:46.23, Mike Innis, who finished 85th in 28:07.53, Greg Brehm, who finished 91st in 28:18.68, and Josh Macpherson, who finished 99th in 28:48.60.

Bobby Thiele from the University of Virginia won the race with a time of 24:44.34.

Delaware will travel to Lehigh Saturday, Oct.7, to compete in the Paul Short Invitational.
