Sophomore swingman Greg Miller scored a
team-high 15 points on five three pointers and four
Blue Hen players scored in doubl figures as the
University of Delaware men's basketball team opened
its 1998-99 exhibition season with an 85-65 victory
over the Nantucket Nectars Naturals at the Bob
Carpenter Center Tuesday night. The Blue Hens,
coming off a 20-10 season in which they made their
third NCAA Tournament appearance, took a 15-point
halftime lead and never looked back in posting the
win over the Naturals, a team made up of former
college players. Madou Diouf came off the
bench to add 14 points, Maine transfer John
Gordon hit for 12 points, and Mike Pegues
scored 11 points and had a team-high seven
rebounds to pace the Blue Hens. The Hens connected
on 11 of 21 three-pointers for the game. Forward
Kenny Wood (Richmond) led the Naturals with 18
points while Devone Williams added 13 points and a
game-high nine rebounds. The Naturals turned the
ball over 24 times.
