BOSTON -- University of Delaware junior Kestutis Marciulionis continued his hot shooting, netting a game-high 28 points, including six three-pointers, and the Blue Hens put the clamps on Boston University in the second half to post a 78-60 America East men's basketball victory Sunday at Case Gym.

The Blue Hens (16-5, 9-3) won their fourth straight game and moved to within one-half game of first place behind Drexel in the league standings. Boston University (7-12, 3-8) lost for the fifth time in the last six games.

Delaware sophomore swingman Madou Diouf came off the bench to score 10 points and pull 11 rebounds while Tyrone Perry added 12 points and Mike Pegues, the No. 4 leading scorer in the nation, was held to just 10 points but dished out a career-high seven assists. Senior guard LeVar Folk was the only Terrier to reach double figures with 18 points, but had just two points after intermission.

Marciulionis, a 6-2 lefthander from Kaunas, Lithuania by way of Hargrave Military Academy (Va.) and Huegonot Academy (Va.), connected on 8 of 14 shots from the field, including 6 of 12 three-pointers, and was perfect on all six free throws in his second start of the season. Marciulionis, the Hens' third leading scorer at 10.7 ppg, erupted for a career-high 33 points off the bench in Wednesday's 99-91 overtime win over Drexel and added 15 points in Friday night's 72-69 win over Northeastern

"Our hero today was our team defense," said Delaware head coach Mike Brey, whose team won at Case Gym for the first time since the 1992-93 season and completed the Northeastern-Boston University road sweep for the first time since 1991-92. "We really did well on the boards, especially in the second half when we limited them to one shot every time down. Madou was Rodman-like on the boards. This was a great team win. This is a mature group and we really handled the last five days well. We are kind of banged up but now it's time to get our legs back with a week off (until Towson game Feb. 7)."

After Delaware took a 37-35 halftime lead, the Blue Hen defense put the clamps on, holding Boston University to just 25 second half points. The Terriers hit just 10 of 27 shots from the field in the second half (.370) and shot just .392 (20 of 51) for the game. The Hens also held BU's leading scorer Walter Brown (12.4 ppg) to just eight points, including just one field goal in six attempts. Delaware led the entire second half, breaking away on a 7-0 run after the Terriers had pulled to within 47-44 with 14:47 left. The Hens led by at least 10 points the final 10 minutes of play.
