University of Delaware men’s basketball head coach Monté Ross has announced that sophomore guard Darrell Johnson has decided to transfer.
“Darrell has decided to transfer from our program and we wish him nothing but good will with his future endeavors,” Ross said. “We appreciate all of the hard work that he has put into not only his basketball ability but also his ability as a student.”
Johnson, a New Castle, DE native who was an all-state selection as a senior at Howard High School, appeared in all 31 games as a freshman last season and started the first 28 contests. He averaged 6.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, and scored a season-high 18 points in his Blue Hen debut against Marist while adding 12 points in Delaware’s win at La Salle. Johnson reached double figures in seven games and pulled down a season-best six rebounds at Loyola.
Johnson has not announced to what school he will transfer.
