Mike Bourne, a 1978 graduate of the University
of Delaware and a former Blue Hen standout golfer, will once serve as
a volunteer coach for the Blue Hen golf squad for the fourth straight season
in 2006-07.
Bourne, who was hired by head coach Mike Keogh
in June, 2003, currently is the co-owner and club professional at The
Golf Academy in Middletown, DE.
One of the top golfers in Blue Hen history,
he captured the East Coast Conference tournament title in 1976 and is
the only golfer in UD history to qualify for the NCAA championships three
times. He led the squad to consecutive ECC team titles in 1976 and 1977
and to the EIGA Eastern title in 1977.
His career stroke average of 77.14 ranks second
all-time in UD history and his season averages of 76.19 in 1975-76 and
76.42 in 1977-78 both rank in the top 10 all-time. In addition to his
play with the Blue Hens, he was a three-time club champion at Cavaliers
Country Club in Wilmington.
He resides in Landenberg, PA with his wife
and two children.
