WILLIAMSBURG, VA -- The University of Delaware golf team will compete in the Colonial Athletic Association Championships this Friday through Sunday at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.
The conference’s 11 men’s golf teams will compete at the par 71, 6,738-yard Gold Course, with the winning team earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. Old Dominion is the defending CAA men’s champion, as the Monarchs posted a four-stroke victory over Georgia State in 2007.
The Blue Hens, who will tee off at 10:41 a.m. Friday, are coming off a sixth-place finish at the 2007 championships after finishing fifth in 2006, their best finish in Delaware’s first six years in the league.
Delaware is led by junior Tommy Ellison (at right), who is averaging a team-best 74.70 shots per round this season and finished second at the Lafayette Invitational last weekend. Sophomore Jason Bernstein placed a team-high 17th at the 2007 CAA Championships, while junior Steve Boerner was 40th and Ellison finished in 45th place.
