University of Delaware Golfers Place 13th at William & Mary’s Joe Agee Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, VA -- The University of Delaware golf squad shot team scores of 299, 292, and 299 to finish with a score of 890 and place 13th at the Joe Agee Invitational hosted by the College of William & Mary Monday and Tuesday at Stonehouse Golf Club.

Old Dominion placed four golfers in the top 10 to capture the team title with a score of 842 over 54 holes, nine strokes better than second round leader Loyola with 851. East Carolina was third at 861 followed by Richmond (867), William & Mary (868), Francis Marion (869), Princeton (870), Saint Joseph’s (878), James Madison (882), and Towson (883) in the top 10. Delaware’s 13th place score of 890 was just one stroke behind Bostons College in the 18-team field.

Delaware was once again led by senior Joe McLister (right), who shot scores of 71 and 70 on Monday and 73 Tuesday to finish tied for 13th place with a score of 214 over the par 70, 6,646-yard course. McLister has now been Delaware’s top finisher in a tournament 25 times in his career.

Also for the Hens, freshman John Jenson (79-73-73) and sophomore Tommy Ellison (72-76-77) tied for 47th with scores of 225, freshman Dan Rexon was 64th at 78-75-76=229, and freshman Jason Bernstein was 78th at 78-74-82=234.

Richmond’s Jordan Utley was the individual medalist as he shot 66-71-68 for a score of 205, one stroke better than Blake Furgerson of Loyola.

Delaware will continue action this weekend when the Blue Hens host the Scotty Duncan Fall Invitational at White Clay Creek Country Club Saturday and Sunday.
