NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware men’s golf head coach Mike Keogh has announced that high school standouts Kevin McLister and Colin Smith have each signed an NCAA National Letter of Intent to attend the University on an athletic scholarship and compete for the Blue Hens next fall.

McLister is a native of Leesburg, VA (Loudoun County High School) and Smith is a native of West Chester, PA (Salesianum School, Wilmington, DE).

McLister, the younger brother of current Blue Hen senior standout and three-year captain Joe McLister, has enjoyed an outstanding high school career at Loudoun County HS and as a junior golfer. He captured the Loudoun County District tournament last spring with a single round score of 68 and was 16th in the Virginia State Junior Stroke Play Tournament with scores of 79, 74, and 76. He also captured the Cheers Open with a score of 70.

Smith, who will become the fourth Delaware high school product on the squad next fall, has also enjoyed an outstanding high school and junior career at nearby Salesianum School. A two-time All-State selection, he placed second at the Delaware High School State Championship last spring with a score of 69-74=144 and was seventh in the state tournament as a sophomore. He has lost just one dual match during his high school career - posting a 35.5 stroke average (nine holes) last season - and placed second at the Delaware State Amateur this past summer.

In addition, he captured the 2005 Delcastle Open (71), was second at the 2006 Rehoboth Junior Open (74), placed second at the 2006 “Big I” Qualifier (76), was fifth at the Optimist Qualifier (74), was sixth at the 2005 AJGA Qualifier (74), and placed eighth at the 2006 AJGA Boston International Qualifier (70).

Keogh, currently in his sixth season at the helm of the Blue Hens, led the Blue Hens to a fifth place finish at the 2006 Colonial Athletic Association Championships. This past fall season he led the Blue Hens to three top 10 tournament finishes, including a first place finish at the Scotty Duncan Memorial hosted by Delaware and White Clay Creek Golf Club.
