NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware men's golf head coach Mike Keogh has announced that Britt Murdoch (at right) has been selected as captain of the 2007-08 Blue Hen golf squad.
Murdoch, a native of Bryn Mawr, PA (Haverford), competed in three tournaments for the Blue Hens last season and will be the lone senior on next years team.
As a junior in 2006-07, Murdoch competed in three tournaments and averaged a mark of 82.00 in six rounds.
Murdoch’s best finish came at Delaware's Scotty Duncan Memorial where he shot a 161 to finish 15th overall. He also shot his best round of the year, a 79, on the tournament’s opening day. Murdoch finished 88th overall at the Old Dominion Tournament and 38th at the Fairfield Tournament.
While at Haverford High School where he played for head coach Jim Kania, one of UD’s all-time great players, he posted a four-year record of 61-2-3.
"Britt has played an instrumental part in pushing our players to become better,” said Keogh. “Even as a sophomore and this past year as a junior, he took the younger players under his wing. By displaying his dedication through hard practice and using his keen sense of humor, Britt made the whole team a much stronger unit. Assistant Coach Aylward and I both knew he had earned his place as the next captain of the Blue Hens."
