Blue Hen Golf Team In Sixth Place Following Second Day Of CAA Championship

HOT SPRINGS, VA -- The University of Delaware golf team fell to sixth place after shooting a 307, 27 over par, Saturday on the second day of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship held at the Homestead Golf Course.

The Blue Hens, who were tied for third place at 15 over par 295 following Friday’s first round, are now 42 over par with a team score of 602 after two days of the three-day tournament. Old Dominion leads the championship with a two-day score of 576, 16 over par, followd by Virginia Commonwealth at 581 and defending champion Georgia State at 582. William & Mary and UNC Wilmington are each tied for fourth at 591, followed by Delaware, Towson (604), James Madison (609), Drexel (613), George Mason (621), and Hofstra (624).

Freshman Jason Bernstein (at right) remained in a tie for 11th place in the individual standings as he shot a three over par 73 Saturday on the par 70, 6,679 yard course. Bernstein, who shot a 74 on Friday, is now at seven over par with a two-day score of 147. Senior Joe McLister, who shot a 73 on Friday, shot a 77 Saturday and is tied for 22nd place with a 10 over par score of 150. Senior Josh Williamowsky, who was tied for fifth after shooting a 71 on Friday, shot an 82 on Saturday to fall to a tie for 33rd place with a 13 over par score of 153.

Sophomore Tommy Ellison is tied for 41st place at 156, 16 over par, after shooting an 80 on Friday and 76 on Saturday. Fellow sophomore Steve Boerner, who shot a 77 on Friday and an 81 on Saturday, is tied for 43rd place with an 18 over par score of 158.

Jens Fahrbring of Virginia Commonwealth and John Murphy of Old Dominion are each tied for the individual lead at two under par after both shot a pair of 69 rounds.

The championships conclude Sunday at the Homestead Golf Course.
