Blue Hen Golf Teams Place Fourth, Sixth at Wesley Invitational

WYOMING, DE -- The University of Delaware A team placed fourth with a score of 295 and the Delaware B team finished sixth with a score of 302 as the Blue Hen men’s golf team competed at the Wesley Spring Invitational Thursday at Wild Quail Golf and Country Club.

Host Wesley won the team championship with a score of 289 followed by Newport News Apprentice School (292), George Washington (294), Delaware A (295), New York University (297), Delaware B (302), Wilmington College (313); Cabrini (314), Alvernia (320), Neumann (322), Rutgers-Camden (328), Villa Julie (332), Eastern (351), and Immaculata (388).

Delaware will close out its 2005-06 season April 22-23 as the Blue Hens host the annual Scotty Duncan Memorial Tournament at Back Creek Golf Club.

Steve Boerner (right) was Delaware’s top performer as he tied for second with a score of 72 for the A team. He was joined by Joe McLister and Josh Williamowsky shooting 74 to tie for 13th, Matt Grobstein fired a 76 for 23rd place and Jeff Griest was at 77 to place 28th.

For the Delaware B team, Tommy Ellison tied for seventh with a score of 73, B.J. Jaworski tied for 17th with a 75, Tyler Kupper was 23rd with a score of 76, Britt Murdoch was 31st with a score of 78, and Mike Strasburg shot an 82 to tie for 44th.

Wesley placed three players in the top 10 as Tyler Smith earned medalist honors with a score of 67 while Mike Rushin and Will Scarborough tie for seventh place with scores of 73.
