Carmen Barnes begins his second season with the University of Delaware football coaching staff during the 2008 season.
A native of Wilmington, DE, Barnes worked closely with Delaware offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kirk Ciarrocca during the 2007 season as an undergraduate and helped the Blue Hens post an 11-4 record and advance to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision title game. Delaware ranked among the top offensive units in the country led by a pair of All-Americans in quarterback Joe Flacco and running back Omar Cuff.
He is pursuing a degree in leadership and consumer economics as a senior at Delaware.
Barnes, 26, attended nearby Concord High School and received his first coaching experience as an assistant coach at Valley Forge (PA) Military College Prep School in 2004-06. He led the team to three straight Seaboard Conference titles.
