Jared Ambrose, who helped lead Shepherd University to national prominence in NCAA Division II football over three seasons, was named a graduate assistant coach with the University of Delaware football staff in July, 2007. He will begin his second season on the UD staff in 2008.

Thanks to a much-improved defense and a high-powered offense that featured six All-Americans, he led the Blue Hens to another outstanding season in 2007 when Delaware went 11-4 and advanced to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision title game.

Ambrose, 26, a native of Middletown, MD, earned his degree in athletic coaching and officiating at Shepherd (WV) College in May, 2007 and is pursuing a master's degree in exceptional children and youth special education at Delaware.

He serves as a graduate assistant coach on the Blue Hen staff along with third-year graduate assistant Jason Hescock and works with the UD offensive unit.

Ambrose attended Middletown (MD) High School where he competed in football, basketball, and track and field and earned All-State honors twice and All-American notice as a defensive back in football. He suffered knee injuries during his senior year which limited his playing time in college.
