Blue Hen senior center Kheon Hendricks (at right) earned second team honors while junior quarterback Rob Schoenhoft, senior wide receiver Kervin Michaud, senior defensive end Ronald Talley, and senior linebacker Erik Johnson earned spots on the honorable mention team.
The website site is devoted to college football and the National Football League draft.
With its five selections, Delaware had more players honored than any other Colonial Athletic Association team. In all, 16 CAA players were honored on the team, including first team selection Matt McCracken of Richmond at offensive guard, first team strong safety Marcus Haywood of James Madison, and second team picks Scott Sicko of New Hampshire at tight end, Richmond offensive tackle Tim Silver, and Richmond return specialist Justin Rogers.
Hendricks, a senior center from Baltimore, MD (Woodlawn High School), earned first team All-CAA honors and honorable mention The Sports Network All-American laurels as a first-year starter at center in 2007. He anchored an offensive line that paved the way for Blue Hen offense that led the CAA in scoring offense, passing offense, and total offense.
Michaud, a senior wide receiver from Levittown, PA (Pennsbury HS), earned third team All-CAA honors in 2007 after ranking fourth on the team with 52 receptions for 682 yards and three touchdowns. He also ranked third on the team in rushing with 16 carries for 108 yards and led the team in kickoff returns with 39 for an average of 20.7 yards.
Delaware returns 15 starters, including five All-Americans, from last year’s squad that went 11-4 under head coach K.C. Keeler. The Blue Hens advanced to the NCAA I FCS national championship game, won the Lambert Cup Trophy, and were selected as the ECAC Team of the Year as the top team in the East.
Schoenhoft, a junior quarterback from Mason, OH (St. Xavier HS), is a first-year transfer from Ohio State and will battle redshirt freshman Lou Ritacco for the starting spot this fall. The 6-6, 245 lb. Schoenhoft was the backup at Ohio State last fall, helping the Buckeyes advance to the national championship game. He played in nine games at Ohio State over the last two seasons and threw for 129 yards in seven games last season.
Talley, a senior defensive end from Oak Park, MI (Renaissance HS), will be a second-year starter this fall for the Blue Hens after transferring from Notre Dame. He played in 13 games with eight starts in an injury-plagued season in 2007 and recorded 43 tackles. He had six tackles for loss, three quarterback sacks, one interception, three pass breakups, and one blocked kick.
Johnson, a senior linebacker from Fairport, NY (Fairport HS), will be a third-year starter at linebacker for the Blue Hens this fall, including his second at middle linebacker. He was the Blue Hens’ leading tackler in 2007 when he recorded 122 stops, including 69 solo tackles. He recorded 11 tackles for loss, two sacks, three interceptions, and recovered one fumble for a touchdown. He was named the team’s Blue Hen Touchdown Club Defensive Player of the Week five times during the season. He recorded 10 or more tackles four times.
