RICHMOND, VA -- University of Delaware placekicker Jon Striefsky, who scored 13 points in the Blue Hens’ big 37-34 Colonial Athletic Association win over James Madison Saturday, has been named the CAA Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance, the league has announced.

Striefsky (at right), a sophomore from Lansdale, PA (North Penn High School), kicked three field goals and was true on all four extra point attempts as the No. 7 ranked Blue Hens (8-1, 5-1 CAA) posted the key late season victory over the No. 12 ranked Dukes (6-3, 4-2 CAA).

The reliable kicker booted field goals of 24, 31, and 37 yards, all in the first half, to lead the Blue Hens to a 16-6 halftime lead on the way to the win. He tied a school record for field goals in a half and a game and his 37-yarder, with just three seconds left in the first half, tied his season and career long.

Striefsky has been perfect this season, connecting on all 44 of his extra point attempts and on all 13 of his field goal attempts. His 13 straight field goals is a Delaware record and his 44 straight extra points if six shy of the Delaware record of 50 by Mark Drozic in 1990-91.

He ranks fourth in the NCAA in kick scoring with 9.2 points per game and is the only player in the country who has been perfect on all 57 or more of his kick attempts this season.

Also honored by the league were Offensive Player of the Week Maurice Murray of Northeastern, Defensive Player of the Week Jovan Belcher of Maine, and Rookie of the Week Griff Yancey of James Madison.
