NEWARK, DE -- Despite the University of Delaware’s unbeaten record and a dominating 27-7 road win over Colonial Athletic Association for Towson Saturday, the Blue Hen football team dropped to No. 12 in both major weekly Top 25 polls.

The Blue Hens (4-0), one of 16 unbeaten teams at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision level, dropped to No. 12 in both The Sports Network and Collegiate Commissioner’s Association/American Football Coaches Association polls.

The Hens also dropped last week from 10th to 11th after defeating Rhode Island 38-9. Delaware will be looking to start the season 5-0 for the first time since the 2003 national championship season this Saturday when it hosts non-league opponent Monmouth (0-3) at 7 p.m. at Delaware Stadium. Approximately 1,500 tickets remained as of Tuesday morning.

Appalachian State, which fell to Southern Conference foe Wofford 42-31 on Saturday, dropped out of the No. 1 spot for the first time this season and was replaced by Montana at the top spot in both polls.

Eight different teams earned first place votes and six of the 12 Colonial Athletic Association teams appeared in the top 25, not including Villanova, which was the top team earning votes that did not make the top 25.

In The Sports Network, Montana was at No. 1 with 46 first place votes and 2,396 voting points, edging No. 2 Massachusetts with 18 first place votes and 2,345 points.
