_lg.jpg) MELVILLE, NY -- University of Delaware junior wide receiver Aaron Love, who led the No. 10 ranked Blue Hens to a 38-9 Colonial Athletic Association football victory over Rhode Island Saturday, has been named a Weekly Star by the Sports Media Entertainment (SME) Network.
Love (at right), a junior from Detroit, MI (Southfield High School), overcame groin and shoulder injuries to star on offense for Delaware as he caught a season-high 10 passes for 139 yards and scored his first touchdown of the season on a 15-yard pass from quarterback Joe Flacco in the first half. He also returned two punts for 21 yards.
A pre-season first team All-CAA selection after earning third team honors a year ago, Love is currently Delaware’s leading receiver with 14 catches for 209 yards, a 14.9 yard average, and one touchdown.
Delaware (3-0, 2-0 CAA), ranked No. 11 in this week’s national polls, will continue CAA action Saturday when they travel to Towson for a 7 p.m. start at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, MD.
Joining Love as a Weekly Star were New Hampshire quarterback Ricky Santos, Georgia Southern quarterback Jayson Foster, Liberty running back Rashad Jennings, the New Hampshire offensive line, William & Mary tight end Drew Atchison, McNeese State defensive lineman Brian Smith, Tennessee State defensive end Shaun Richardson, Colgate linebacker Mike Gallihugh, Portland State linebacker Jordan Senn, Valparaiso defensive back Kyle Himmelwright, and Wagner punter Piotr Czech.
