NEWARK, DE -- Fans attending the University of Delaware’s Homecoming football contest vs. Northeastern Saturday (Oct. 13) at 12 noon at Delaware Stadium should be aware of several parking limitations in the stadium area.
Due to the increased amount of tents and Alumni Row, parking will be limited on Field 2 (off South College Avenue) and there will be approximately 400-500 less parking spots available than usual.
Fans are urged to carpool, use additional parking available on the main campus, or utilize shuttle busses that will be begin running at 9:30 a.m. The busses will run from the Smith Overpass and travel to Park Place, Elkton Road, and Route 4 before arriving at Delaware Stadium.
Less than 800 tickets remained for the game as of Friday afternoon for 22,000-seat Delaware Stadium. The Bob Carpenter Center Box Office and Delaware Stadium Box Office will both open at 10 a.m. Stadium lots will open at 8 a.m. with Delaware Stadium gates opening at 10 a.m. No vehicles will be admitted into the Delaware Stadium lots before 8 a.m.
Fan are also reminded of several tailgating and alcohol restrictions that are in effect for all home games at Delaware Stadium, including Saturday’s Homecoming game.
Tailgating may take place until kickoff time (12 noon) and resume for one hour after the game ends. Tailgaters who do not enter Delaware Stadium at or before game time will be required to leave UD property. Tailgating is not to interfere with adjacent parking spaces and “saving spaces” is prohibited. Tents, platforms, stages, amplification devices, throwing of footballs, etc. are not permitted in the general or reserved parking area.
Alcoholic beverages are prohibited inside Delaware Stadium and will be confiscated at the gate. In addition, kegs of beer or beverage alcohol, to include “party balls,” and drinking apparatus, are not permitted in the University of Delaware Athletics Complex, including the parking lots.
