 RICHMOND, VA -- University of Delaware senior quarterback Joe Flacco, who led the Blue Hen football team to a wild 59-52 upset win over Navy Saturday in Annapolis, MD, has been honored as the Colonial Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 28.
Flacco (at right), a native of Audubon, NJ (Audubon High School), becomes the sixth Blue Hen player to be honored by the league this season.
Flacco enjoyed another spectacular day as he led an offense that piled up 581 yards and scored on eight straight possessions. He completed 30 of 41 passes for a career-high 434 yards and matched a career-high with four touchdown passes.
He passed the 2,000-yard passing mark for the season and 5,000-yard plateau for his two-year career at Delaware and threw for over 200 yards for the 13th straight game. He currently ranks seventh in the NCAA in passing efficiency (167.0) and ninth in both total offense (303.0) and passing yards (282.0).
Other Delaware honorees this year were RB Omar Cuff (Offensive Player of the Week vs. William & Mary), RB Phillip Thaxton (Rookie of the Week vs. West Chester), DB Cody Cipalla (Rookie of the Week vs. Monmouth), DB Anthony Walters (Rookie of the Week vs. Rhode Island), and DE Matt Marcorelle (Defensive Player of the Week vs. Towson).
Also honored with week by the CAA were Defensive Player of the Week Stephen Howell of Richmond, Rookie of the Week Martel Moody of Villanova, and Special Teams Player of the Week Angelo Babbaro of Villanova.
