Complete 2008 Spring Schedule

NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware field hockey squad's five-event spring scrimmage schedule is underway.

The Blue Hens will compete in five spring scrimmage events, including taking part in the LaSalle Indoor Tournament this past March 15.

Delaware will take part in the University of Maryland 11/7 Aside Tournament Apr. 12, travel to the Saint Joseph's 7 Aside Tournament Apr. 19, host the Blue Hen Spring Fling 11 Aside Tournament Apr. 20 at Rullo Stadium, and close out the season Apr. 27 at the Lafayette 11 Aside Tournament.

The Blue Hens opened the spring with an outstanding showing at the LaSalle Indoor Tournament last Saturday with UD teams placing first and second.

Head coach Carol Miller divided her 24-member squad into two teams - Delaware and Blue Hens. The Delaware team, led by captain Casey Howard (at right) and Tori Karstenl, placed first while the Blue Hen team, led by Michelle Drummonds and Jess Cortellino, placed second.

The two teams remained unbeaten until the final in which the Delaware team defeated the Blue Hen squad.

Other schools in the tournament were Villanova, Saint Joseph's, LaSalle, and Rider.
