GLEN ALLEN, VA -- Casey Howard, a captain on the University of Delaware field hockey team, earned first team All-Mid Atlantic Region honors as selected by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Howard (Camden, DE/Caesar Rodney), a first team All-Conference selection this year, finished the regular season as the CAA’s leading scorer, notching 13 goals and 29 points.

During the year, Howard, a junior midfielder, recorded two game-winning goals. She posted the lone score in a 1-0 victory over Richmond, while she added the clincher in a 2-1 win against Towson. She also notched two goals in a game twice, posting two scores against both Bucknell and Virginia Commonwealth.

Last season, Howard also was honored as a first team All-Region selection after leading the Hens with nine goals and 19 points. She also tied for eighth in the conference with a 0.47 goals-per-game average.

In her career, Howard has posted 29 goals, six assists, and 64 points. A former CAA All-Rookie selection in 2004, she has garnered postseason honors in each of her three seasons.

It marks the 17th time a Blue Hen has received first team All-Region honors since 1990. Of those, Howard is only the third one to receive first team accolades more than once. Erica LaBar earned them in three straight seasons, while Juli Byrd received them twice.
