NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware freshman Michelle Drummonds was named to the National All-Rookie team as selected by WomensFieldHockey.com.
Drummonds, a first-year back on the Hens, finished the season as the third leading scorer on the team with 14 points and seven goals.
During the year, she recorded her first career goal against Rutgers, and then added scores against Monmouth, Penn, Duke, and Drexel.
Against Virginia Commonwealth, she also posted the first multi-goal game of her career, scoring twice in the team’s 5-4 overtime victory.
Drummonds was joined on the All-Rookie team by fellow CAA members Dolores de Rooij of James Madison and Loran Hatch of Old Dominion. Katie O’Donnell, a freshman at Maryland, was named the Rookie of the Year after leading the nation in scoring, averaging 2.52 points-per-game.
Michelle is the second Blue Hen to receive honors from WomensFieldHockey.com after Alexis Esbitt was named to the national honor roll earlier this season.
A native of Elkton, MD, Drummonds is a health and physical education major at Delaware.
