NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware sophomore forward Casey Howard (at right) and senior midfielder Stephanie Swain have been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Mid Atlantic Region team.

Howard, a forward from Camden, DE (Caesar Rodney High School), was named to the first time while Swain, a midfielder from Middletown, DE (William Penn High School), was a second team selection.

A total of 32 players were honored led by the University of Maryland, which had eight players selected.

Howard was Delaware’s leading scorer this season as she scored nine goals and dished out one assist to finish with 19 points. She had three multiple-goal games, scoring a career-high three goals vs. LaSalle and two each vs. Syracuse and Albany. She started all 19 games and had a team-high 38 shots on goals. She has posted 16 career goals and three assists in just two seasons.

Swain, the team’s assistant captain, was fourth on the team with 10 points on two goals and six assists. She played in and started 17 games for the Blue Hens. Swain recorded a goal and an assist against No. 16 Michigan State in the team’s season opener and scored the Blue Hens’ loan goal against No. 3 Duke. Earlier this year she was selected to the All-Colonial Athletic Association second team.

Delaware finished the season with a 7-12 overall record and a 3-5 slate in Colonial Athletic Association play for head coach Carol Miller. The Hens fell in the quarterfinals of the CAA tournament to Hofstra by a 2-1 score.
