NEWARK, DE -- Senior Amber Deimler scored two goals to lead the University of Delaware field hockey team to a 3-0 victory over La Salle University Sunday afternoon at Fred P. Rullo Stadium.
Casey Howard scored her seventh goal of the season 1:52 into the game to give the Blue Hens a 1-0 lead. Deimler took a pass from Amanda Warrington at the 15:01 mark in the first half to put Delaware up 2-0.
Deimler answered one more time to end the Blue Hens scoring 50 seconds into the second half on a pass from Howard.
Delaware’s Nikki Rhoades came in the second half in relief of Megan Allen and made two saves in the win, while La Salle keeper Ellen Axelsen recorded five saves.
The Blue Hens out-shot the Explorers 8-6, while La Salle held a 5-4 advantage in penalty corners.
With the win, the Blue Hens conclude their season with an 8-11 overall record (2-6 CAA), while La Salle drops to 4-16 overall. Pre-game ceremonies honored seniors Deimler, Carly Campana and Kaili Kao.
