Warrington Scores Twice To Lead No. 19 Delaware Field Hockey Over Lafayette, 5-1

EASTON, PA -- Amanda Warrington scored two goals to lead the No. 19 University of Delaware field hockey team to a 5-1 win over Lafayette College Sunday afternoon at Rappolt Field.

Warrington, the current Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, opened the scoring just 2:52 into the game by lofting a shot over Lafayette keeper Jill Lambert with the assist from sophomore Molly Burke. The Blue Hens took a 2-0 lead when freshman Nikki Hinsley scored the first goal of her career from classmate Erin Marihugh with 20:46 remaining in the first half. Senior Amber Deimler scored the sixth goal of her career with 16:37 remaining in the first half on a pass from junior Kaili Kao to put Delaware up 3-0.

Freshman Casey Howard helped the Blue Hens take a 4-0 lead by scoring her fifth goal of the season with 1:27 left in the first half on a pass from Deimler. Warrington scored her sixth goal of the season and the 17th of her career when she gave the Blue Hens a 5-0 lead with only 46 seconds remaining in the first half off of a pass from Howard.

Laura Fabian scored the only goal of the game for the Leopards with 12:17 remaining in the second half to make the score 5-1.

Megan Allen made two saves in goal while Nikki Rhodes didn’t allow a goal in 10 minutes of action in her first appearance of the season for the Blue Hens, while Lambert made nine saves and Caitlin Burke made two saves for Lafayette.

Delaware now holds a 15-11-1 advantage all-time against the Leopards.

Delaware returns to action on Friday when the Blue Hens travel to Temple for a 3:30 p.m. game.
