RICHMOND, VA -- Freshman reliever Michael Londino became the third member of the University of Delaware baseball team to earn Rookie of the Week honors after being named the top freshman by the Colonial Athletic Association on Monday.

During the week, Londino (Annandale, NJ/North Hunterdon) went 2-0 and led the squad with nine strikeouts and a 1.17 ERA over 7.2 innings of work.

With the award, the right-hander becomes the first Delaware pitcher to earn a Rookie of the Week honor since current teammate Mike McGuire received one in 2005. He is also the first Blue Hen reliever ever to earn the accolade.

In his first appearance against UMBC, he entered the game in the fifth and fired 3.1 innings of scoreless relief. Over his outing, he struck out five and held the Retrievers hitless to earn his second win of the season.

On Saturday, he returned to the mound and struck out two while firing 1.2 frames of shutout ball against Towson. In his last appearance, he worked 2.2 innings against the Tigers on Sunday, allowing just one earned run to pick up his third win of the season and second of the week.

In 24 appearances during his freshman campaign, Londino has worked 40.2 innings, the most by any Blue Hen pitcher with less than two starts. Over that time, he has posted a 3-5 record to go along with 43 strikeouts and a 5.98 ERA. He also earned his first career save against Hofstra earlier in the season.

Londino is the fifth Blue Hen to earn conference honors, including the third Rookie of the Week selection. Jon Duvall and Matt Harden also were freshman honorees, while Ryan Cuneo was named the Player of the Week and David Slovak earned the top pitching honor last week.

Along with Londino, the CAA selected Georgia State's Bradley Logan as the Player of the Week, while UNC Wilmington's Jeff Hatcher and VCU's Cody Eppley shared the Pitcher of the Week honor.
