Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens
Kyle DeHaven - Women's Basketball

November 12, 2007

Athlete photoNEWARK, DE -- Senior guard Kyle DeHaven, who led the University of Delaware women's basketball team to a season-opening 54-47 win over Delaware State Friday night, is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending Nov. 12.

DeHaven (left), a senior guard from Herndon, VA (Herndon High School), scored 19 of her UD career-high 24 points in the second half, dished out six assists, and recorded six steals as the Hens opened the 2007-08 season with the victory over in-state rival Delaware State in the first round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament Friday at the Bob Carpenter Center.

DeHaven is a pre-season second team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection and a two-year member of the CAA All-Defensive Team. Last season she led the Blue Hens to a 26-6 record and an NCAA Tournament selection when she averaged 8.5 points per game and dished out 106 assists.

Delaware, which is now 11-1 in home openers under head coach Tina Martin, extended its non-conference regular season home winning streak to 15 games since November, 2003. The Hens are now 9-0 all-time vs. Delaware State, including a 60-46 win in the last meeting Jan. 3, 2001.
