NEWARK, DE -- Senior relief pitcher David Slovak, who led the Blue Hens to two key conference road wins this past week, is theWilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for May 5.

Slovak was selected after he helped lead the University of Delaware baseball team to a 3-2 record and its first road conference series win of the season last week.

For his efforts, Slovak was also named the Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Week, earning the honors for the second time in his career.

Slovak (Louisville, KY/Eastern) had an outstanding week, making three appearances while posting two saves. During his 5.0 innings of work, he did not allow a hit or run and notched seven strikeouts.

In his first outing, he struck out two in one inning of work against Wilmington University before coming back to strike out five in four innings against Georgia State on Friday and Saturday.

Against the Panthers, he posted back-to-back two-inning saves. With his two saves, he improved his career total to 17, just one shy of the all-time program record set by Scott Gellert from 1994-97.
