NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware senior outfielder Bryan Hagerich is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for his performance for the period ending April 9.
Hagerich, an exercise physiology major from Somerset, PA (Somerset High School), led the Blue Hens baseball team to a 3-1 week, including taking two out of three games in a weekend series at Colonial Athletic Association foe George Mason in Fairfax, VA.
The Hens went 3-1 during the week, defeating LaSalle 12-9 at home on Tuesday, falling to George Mason 7-6 on Friday, defeating Mason 6-2 on Saturday, and downing the Patriots 12-0 on Sunday. Delaware improved to 9-16 (5-7 CAA).
For the week, Hagerich batted .529, collecting nine hits in 17 at bats, scored seven runs, knocked in 11 runs, and hit four home runs. He also had a double and a stolen bases in the four games.
He went 2 for 3 with two runs battted in the 12-9 win over La Salle, was 2 for 4 with three RBI and a home run in the 7-6 loss to George Mason, went 2 for 5 with an RBI in the 6-2 win over Mason, and capped the outstanding week by collecting three hits, five RBI, and two home runs in the 12-0 series finale Sunday.
Hagerich is now batting .350 on the season and leads the Blue Hens with nine home runs and 26 runs batted in.
