NEWARK, DE -- For the second time this year, University of Delaware senior women's outdoor track and field standout Asha Quant is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week.

The Willingboro, NJ (Holy Cross High School) native earned the award after winning three events at the season-opening Towson Invitational Saturday at Towson University's Johnny Unitas Stadium.

Quant, who won the award for the third time in her career and for the second time in six weeks (Feb. 18), captured the long jump, 100 meters, 200 meters, and 4 x 100 meter relay events as the Blue Hens won seven events at the first meet of the season.

She teamed with Cristine Marquez, Kayla Hennessy, and Kristi Cox to win the 400 meter relay in a time of 48.20, good enough to qualify for the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships to be held in May at Princeton.

Quant also won the 100 meters in 12.60 seconds, the 200 meters in 25.57 seconds, and took a break from the track to win the long jump with a distance of 18-feet, 1 3/4-inches.

Delaware will continue action this weekend with athletes competing at meets at the University of Maryland, Wintrhop College, and North Carolina State.
