University of Delaware sophomore women's lacrosse standout Debbie Sloan has been selected as the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 11.
Sloan, an attack from Thornton, PA (West Chester East High School), led the Blue Hen women's lacrosse team to its first win of the season in its only game of the week as Delaware downed UMBC 16-5 in Baltimore.
Sloan and Casey McCrudden each scored three goals and dished out an assist as the Hens (1-2) picked up the easy win as they jumped out to a 9-1 lead and never looked back in downing the Retrievers.
Sloan had her second big game in a row after scoring a career-high four goals and dishing out two assists in Delaware's 15-12 setback at Rutgers March 3.
Delaware returns to action on Wednesday, March 14 when the Blue Hens travel to the University of Pennsylvania for a 7 p.m. game with the Quakers.
