University of Delaware sophomore women's swimmer Maryann Walker is the Wilmington Trust Best of the Blue Hens Athlete of the Week for the period ending Feb. 18, 2007.
Walker, a sophomore accounting major from Ellicott City, MD (Mt. Hebron High School), was Delaware's top performer this past weekend as the Blue Hen women placed fifth for the second straight year at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships at George Mason University's McKay Natatorium.
Walker was the lone individual champion for the Blue Hens as she captured the 200 backstroke title with a school-record time of 2:02.87. She posted seven top 10 finishes at the meet and her point total of 44 ranked 10th among all swimmers at the meet.
She also placed fourth in the 800 freestyle relay (7:39.17), sixth in the 100 backstroke (58.79), sixth in the 400 medley relay (3:54.17), seventh in the 200 freestyle relay (1:37.43), eighth in the 200 freestyle (1:53.69), ninth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:34.67),
