Westerners seldom think of Japan as a country that experiences a winter season. This work is done in brushed ink on paper by the greatest monochromatic artist in Japanese history. This is one of a pair of landscape paintings. The artist is said to have at first studied to be a priest. His travels to China influenced his art.
