This is a historically interesting wood cut painting of a bridge, built after 100,000 people died when they could not get across the Sumida River during the Great Fire of 1657. Mt Fuji can be seen in the background. One can see traces of the city’s origins as a fishing village. Today this city is known as, once called Edo , now abounds with skyscrapers and smog that obscure the horizon.
