This landscape was painted with brushed ink and color during the Sung dynasty. The use of ink to paint is seen often in Chinese and Japanese paintings. The Sung dynasty was a period of cultural growth and social mobility. During the first part of the Sung period artists began to paint very large landscapes. These are considered some of the greatest works of Chinese art. |
