This is an image of the “Enlightened King”, Kujaku, painted on silk in the classic Heian icon manner. Note that the surrounding space is almost entirely filled. The name, Kujaku, means peacock, which explains the presence of the bird, which eats insects and plants that poison. It is said that Kojaku is a mild deity that consumes anger and ignorance in the human soul.
