ATTENTION: UD Students, Faculty and Staff - Add value to your UD #1 FLEX card with the Value Transfer Station on the Lower Level rather than purchase Copy Cards!
The FLEX payment system for printing and photocopying uses both UD#1 ID cards (UNIVERSITY of DELAWARE ID cards) and new copy cards. Photocopiers and VendPrint Release Stations throughout the Library are in the process of being converted to the FLEX system. Two designated photocopiers on the Lower Level, one black and white and one color, will accept the old style of copy cards until August 2009.
Users without UD ID cards, please purchase and use the new style of copy cards for photocopying.
Copy cards are NON-REFUNDABLE and the funds are NON-TRANSFERABLE to Flex cards.
New copy cards are available at the service desk on the Lower Level or from c opy Card dispensers located near the Circulation Desk on the first floor, and near the south elevator on the second and third floors.
You must have a $5.00 bill to purchase a card from a dispenser. The cost of the card is $1.00 and $4.00 is the initial value on the card.
Value can be added to either the UD1/FLEX card or new copy card at Value Transfer Stations located throughout campus, including the Lower Level of Morris Library, and at the Student Multimedia Design Center desk, also on the Lower Level of Morris Library.
Print
Printing from the open area computers, classrooms, studios, and the Microforms collection is available for a fee. Prints are paid with a FLEX card (more info above). For more information, see the University’s Printless policy at www.udel.edu/topics/printless.
Free printing allocation to use on computers with application software: Each student receives 100 free "images" for every 6 month period (January 1–June 30 and July 1–December 31). After the free allocation is used, printing fees are charged to your UD FLEX account (see fee-based printing below). Carry-over of unused free page allocation is not provided.
Fee-based printing: Rates apply to all individuals.

Scan
Flatbed Scanners
Two color flatbed scanners are available for use on the computers in the Student Multimedia Design Center. Included with these scanners are transparent media adapters for scanning slides, negatives, and other non-print materials. The scanners are kept on carts that users may move to any computer when needed.
Scanner / Copiers
The Student Multimedia Design Center has four scanner/copiers, including one color scanner/copier. The scanner/copiers, like some of our other copy machines, have a document feeder that can take 50 pages at a time and can be used as regular photocopiers. Scanning is free.
The Scanner/Copiers enable you to:
- Enlarge images up to 400% and reduce down to 25%
- Print documents onto 8.5" x 11", 8.5" x 14", and 11" x 17" paper
- Scan documents into PDF and TIFF file format
- Save images to a CD-R, floppy, Zip Disc, or Flash / Jump drive
Digital media that could be used with the scanner/copiers is available for purchase at the Student Multimedia Design Center desk.
Digital Microform Scanners
There are three digital microform scanners available for public use in the Student Multimedia Design Center.
These scanners allow library users to scan a microfilm or microfiche image into eCopy Desktop or Adobe Acrobat Professional imaging software. The image can then be e-mailed or saved to digital media, available for purchase at the Student Multimedia Design Center desk.
There is a limit of two hours on the scanner when other users are waiting.
