Output
The site has 2 black and white PostScript laser printers which print up to 11x17 printing. Also available are 5 standard size, 1 medium format and 1 large format Epson photo color printers (see printing policy).
You must bring in your own photo paper to run through the color printers.
Occasionally we will allow users to use their own paper in the laser printers. It must be made for printing in laser printers. We have had numerous problems with transparencies and vellum melting in our laser printers (even when made for laser printers). Therefore we do not allow this type of material to be used in these printers. We suggest you take your paper hardcopy to your favorite photocopy service center for duplication on this medium.
LFR
The site contains one LaserGraphics Film Recorder (LFR), a device used to create slides or prints from your computer files (although slides give the best results). A reservation is required for this piece of equipment at all times. Files must be saved in a PICT or scrapbook format (software is available for DOS to Mac file conversion).
There is no charge for using the LFR. You must supply your own film (ASA 100 Ektachrome daylight slide or film is recommended). This process can take hours depending upon the number and type of images (see How to Use the LFR).
