Smyrna School District
Technology Planning Meeting
THE Technology Goal

Technology will be used throughout the district to help every student meet or exceed the standards.  These uses include instructional (both teacher-directed and student utilization), administrative (teacher-level to district-level), and support services applications of technology.

Accomplishments -- September 22, 2000

  1. Introductions of new members

  2. Technology Plan -- Dave Brown

    • After reviewing the existing tech plan, it was decided that based on the new personnel in the district and the progress to date it was best to revisit the plan and set some action goals at the district, school, teacher and student level.

    • Sandy Shalk, Gavin Standish and Dave Brown agreed to take this on for the next meeting.

  3. Review of goals and progress of 1999-2000

    • Software Evaluation and Purchase Guidelines -- Bev Rennie agreed to revisit this issue based on the work from 99-00. These are already in good shape but need to be revisited so they can be implemented with all schools.

    • Web publishing guidelines -- Carrie Baith, Anita Bullock and Pete Thompson will review what was accomplished last year and propose continued work.

  4. Results of June 20 TechDay!

    • Dave will plan who to offer the 2 additional offerings of each seminar as per the commitment made at TechDay 2000.

  5. Issues pending at the end of 1999-2000

    • Question arose as to value of a scope and sequence for student technology skills.

  6. Carrie Baith presented her work in the district. She presented her use of Profiler (http://profiler.hprtec.org)
