| As you know, Milford School District has embarked on an energetic program
to infuse technology in the schools. In August of 1998, the district recrafted
its vision statement, mission
statement and strategic goals.
To meet these goals, a number of people throughout the district have worked on a multi-faceted approach to help
prepare teachers to integrate technology throughout the curriclum. The first stage is to pursue Goal 2: Develop technology skills.
-
These Characteristics of a Competent
Technology User describe the specific capabilities competent users will have in key technology areas,
as well as some overarching competencies.
-
Evaluation of these competencies
will be based on authentic tasks and scoring based on a rubric.
-
There are a number of avenues teachers can travel to attain these competencies.
including
the regularly scheduled training offered in the district; self-paced manuals,
videotapes and computer-based instruction; and on-line materials available
on the web.
- Special Note! There is no special assessment for Computer and Network Competencies. Instead, each of the other assessments will have a challenge built in. This sheet will alert you to some of the problems you might encounter.
-
Milford School District is showing its commitment to this project by awarding
a $100 honorarium to a teacher for successfully completing the assessment
in each of the four areas. Right now you can schedule the word processing or spreadshhet assessment by contacting Dr. Wes Stack at 424-5482 or via e-mail.
