Agenda:

Where are we now?

  • Lori Roe gave an update on where the district stood in regards to the 1995 5-Year Plan and the Technology Literacy Challenge Grant project. She also distributed the description of High Technology Schools. This was developed by the CEO Forum and is used as a guideline for the TLCG projects in Delaware.

What is our goal?

  • The first order of business was to agree on the essential goal of this group. Pertinent ideas included providing more flexibility, creating a cohesive vision for the uses of technology in the curriculum, assuring that graduates possess computer literacy, provide for alignment of technology standards with core curriculum standards, provide for up-to-date programs for staff and students and preparing a map or action plan for adopting technology as a tool.

  • Based primarily on Richard Davis' contribution, the group agreed on this as a guiding statement: Create a plan to guide staff and students in the uses of technology to enhance learning in all curricular areas.

How will we get there?

  • A possible outline for the plan was proposed
    • Essential Preconditions
    • Standards and Guidelines (develop, adopt or adapt)
    • Plan for integration with curriculum to ensure progress in both areas
    • plan how teachers get skills and how they will know they have them
    • Evaluation and assessment

  • This was considered extremely preliminary
