This training module is designed to provide a basic understanding of bloodborne pathogens, common modes of their transmission, methods of prevention, and other pertinent information. Most of the material in this module is the courtesy of Oklahoma State University. We want to thank Oklahoma State University for making this material available. This program is designed to meet the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA's) Bloodborne Pathogen Standard, 29, CFR 1910.1030. The training also includes more recent requirements for inclusion of a discussion about Hepatitis C (HCV) into the training.
Upon request, you may receive additional training from your instructor or supervisor including an opportunity for interactive questions and answers. If you want to request additional training and work at Student Health, see the Assistant Director for Administration. If you do not work in Student Health, please check with your supervisor. You may also receive additional training by using University of Delaware's Bloodborne Pathogens Training Video. To view this presentation you must have RealPlayer installed on your computer.You should also read this summary of OSHA's bloodborne pathogen standard before continuing with this module.
Student Health Service staff should also view the videotape of the 10/03/00 inservice on Infection Control by Keith St. John, Director of Infection Control, Temple University Hospital. This videotape is available in the Student Health Library or check with the Administrative Assistant. You may also view and print the session handouts. Handouts are available on a Student Health Service machine only. If you do not have access on your Student Health machine, please contact the Student Health Assistant Director for Administration.
